Healthy Baby

Today I was watching Lizzy walk across the room and was suddenly filled with overwhelming gratitude to my Heavenly Father that she is doing so well. Just 9 months ago we were told she might have Down Syndrome and that she was very delayed in her progress. She couldn't even sit at that time. Now, she is walking! She runs around and laughs with the kids and it is very apparent that she is just fine. How different things could have been. I am so grateful for her doctor that noticed things weren't quite right so early and for the therapists that have helped her along and for the fact that she CAN walk and that she is healthy and whole. We are blessed.

Time away

Jeff and I went to Sedona for two days and a night. What fun. I am so grateful for the time we take every now and again for us to be alone. We shopped a little, read, took naps, walked along the creek, went on a 3+ hour ATV ride, and ate and ate. Really, for dinner we had an appetizer that consisted of Rattlesnake, Buffalo, Qual-kabobs and deep fried prickly pear cactus. Jeff threw it up in the middle of the night, but my stomach enjoyed it.
We stayed at L'Auberge de Sedona in a little cottage that overlooked the river. It was beautiful. Jeff upgraded us to that cottage instead of the room in the lodge that we had originally planned. We really enjoy each other's company and laugh a lot when we get to spend some time alone. I am so grateful for those two days and my generous husband.

Family Home Evening

Tonight I am grateful for Family Home Evening. We are not super about doing it. Often we'll go out to dinner or a movie and call it FHE. But when we sit down and have a lesson and bear our testimonies to our children the spirit is always so strong and their little hearts are always touched. Tonight Lizzy and Cody ran around crazy the whole time - but when shared our own experiences with prayer the Spirit was there and our kids knew that prayer is important. I am grateful for this resource that always blesses our family when we do it.

Righteous Husband

Today we went to Jeff's Aunt and Uncle Gilliland's homecoming. (it was great by the way) and after sacrament meeting Liz was being a real pill and Courtney hadn't been feeling too well and so I suggested just going home. Jeff said, "Why don't we stay." I protested and gave another reason we'd be better off just going home. He again quietly and rightly said, "Let's just try to stay." And so we did. Nothing spectacular. But as I was thinking of how I saw the hand of the Lord in my life today, that was it. I am grateful for a righteous husband who honors his priesthood and loves the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am grateful for his example. I am glad he loves the Lord more than sports or any other THING that might take him and our family away from where we should be every Sunday. He is a good man and I love him.
